Yes, today is the last day. The last day of everything? Yes… I suppose. Anyways, we don’t want this to end on a bad note, so… Let’s drink up! And yes, the perfect beer for this last day is obviously “La Fin du Monde” by Unibroue of Chambly, Quebec, Canada. Why? The name of course! French for the end of the world, but more likely in reference to the map showing the desolate Ungave peninsula in Canada (“the ends of earth”). But besides the name, this is a really good beer! With a 9% ABV, and a less bitter yet spicier taste than your standard triple like Chimay, this beer will surely spice up your LAST PARTY EVER! I will be looking for this beer myself tonight! I’m sure I can find it, as I’ve been able to in the past, but today… People might have the same plans as we! I better find it, because I pledged to make a “last toast” to the end of the world! Where? Right here! Make your pledge! I’m out! Peace!

BeerBuff here. Yesterday night, my house, some burgers grilled by the grill-master (my roomie), and some good beer. I had started the night with some Sierras (Sierra Nevada’s flagship beer, the Pale Ale) and I split an Arrogant Bastard (Stone Brewing Co.) with my girlfriend. By the way, I definitely want to have a “Bastards” night and try their Lukcy Basartd (yes, that is the correct spelling) and reminisce with their Double Bastard (used to be one of my go to beers). But back to last night, I had a Lagunitas “A Little Sumpin’ Wild” Ale waiting in the fridge, but I was saving it to share it with a guest who was on the way with his box full of beer. This guy always carries a box around with REALLY NICE BOTTLES! (more…)

SweetWater Brewing’s Dank Tank series has introduced the next beer in line. The Gimp will be in the style of an Old Ale “meant to be stashed for a few months to mature in your cellar, but once broken out it’s submissive deliciousness will be giving off sweet scents of caramel and toffee, and warming sensations of alcohol and malt balanced with hops.”

Tucked away in a courtyard near 2nd Ave and The Pier in St Petersburg, Florida, is a craft brew bar that features live original music and great beer on a nightly basis. With 32 beers on top, The Ale & the Witch only serves beer brewed in the United States. They even keep a real-time updated beer list on their website so you can check the brew selection before you head over.

After the election last week, many of you know (or should know) that adult marijuana possession, cultivation and sales will be allowed in the two states, Colorado and Washington.
“I think that having it be legalized within the state, the potential for home brewers to add marijuana to their beer is higher than before,” director of American Homebrewers Association David Glass told FoxNews.com.

Founders Brewing Company was founded in 1997 by homebrewing enthusiasts Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers. The two had recently graduated from college when they decided it was time to live their dream. Their decision sure paid off.
According to Ratebeer.com, Founders is the 2nd best brewery in the world. They have collected 5 medals in the World Beer Cup as well as 2 medals in the 2010 Great American Beer Festival.
The Founders Family Philosophy: “We don’t brew beer for the masses. Instead, our beers are crafted for a chosen few, a small cadre of renegades and rebels who enjoy a beer that pushes the limits of what is commonly accepted as taste. In short, we make beer for people like us.”
Next year, the company expects to produce about 175,000 barrels of beer. Founders Brewing also plans to expand distribution to other states around the southeast, such as Florida, Tennessee, Maryland, Delaware and West Virginia, Stevens said.

Yes, it’s true fellow craft beer lovers, Cigar City Brewing has recently released their award winning IPA in a can. I will have to admit, I was a bit hesitant at first, as I love Jai Alai in the bottle. But Cigar City did good (at least I drink more when I drink out of a can). Not to mention the recycling bin just got lighter.
If you haven’t already, you will soon find their award winning Maduro Brown Ale, Florida Cracker and Hotter Than Helles in a can.
This is a great way for the brewery to cut down on bottling cost and to save tons of money for area recycling programs. Thank you Cigar City for making the move.
For the real beer lovers of the holiday season Boulevard brewing Co. has a gift for you. Nutcracker Ale!
